The Making of a Mascot

Meet Chico. Chico is a chicken. Well actually, Chico is a rooster that, when you press his stomach, he clucks like a chicken.

Chico is our official DesignMe Mascot.

Why a chicken?

I’ll try to make this long story short.

Debbie’s grandparents owned a farm in Falmouth, Maine that was originally home to thousands of egg-laying chickens. Debbie and her sister spent a lot of time at that farm and for amusement, they learned to “cluck”. Their “cluck” was then passed on to their children. It is now a world-famous cluck.

Ok. So maybe not world famous.

But “the cluck” did become a signature. Debbie and Colleen started sending chicken emoji’s to lighten the mood when working virtually from their home offices. Symbols like (“chicken power”) became the norm on their daily messages. Koozie’s were made for summer fun and before we knew it … a mascot was born.

It’s all in good fun, of course. And at DesignMe Creative Group – we are all about having fun while doing what we love – designing websites and graphic elements for print and online.
